 The formula of washing soda is Na2Co3.10H2o. Recrystallisation of sodium carbonate gives  washing soda. It is a basic salt.

Its uses are:-

1. It is used in glass, soap and paper industries.

2. It is used in manufacture of Borax.

3. It is used as cleaning agent for domestic purpose.

4. It is used for removing permanent hardness of water.
