 The most important hormone that the pancreas produces is insulin. Insulin is released by the 'beta cells' in the islets of Langerhans in response to food. Its role is to lower glucose levels in the bloodstream and promote the storage of glucose in fat, muscle, liver and other body tissues.

 Aves: (i) These are warm blooded animals.

          (ii) They have four-chambered heart.

          (iii) They lay eggs.

          (iv) They Breathe through lungs.


Mammals: (i) Mammals are warm blooded animals.

                  (ii) They have four-chambered heart.

                  (iii) Most mammals familiar to us produce live young ones.

                  (iv) A few of them, like the platypus and the echidna lay eggs.

 These women are unable to bear babies because sperms cannot reach the egg for fertilisation. In such cases, doctorso collect freshly released egg and sperms and keep them together for a few hours for IVF or in vitro fertilisation (fertilisation outside the body).
