 What is soapanification?

-Added by Aarohi Chauhan Science » Carbon And Its Compound

Answer:

priyanshu kumar

Saponification is a process by which triglycerides are reacted with sodium or potassium hydroxide (lye) to produce glycerol and a fatty acid salt, called "soap." The triglycerides are most often animal fats or vegetable oils.

What is tetravalency?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Science » Carbon And Its Compound

Answer:

priyanshu kumar
Since carbon has a valency of 4, so it is capable of bonding with four others atoms of carbon or atom of elements like oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulphur, chlorine, etc.

Question 5. Asked on :10 September 2019:10:18:57 AM

What is the reason for the formation of strong bonds by carbon?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Science » Carbon And Its Compound

Answer:

priyanshu kumar
The reason for the formation of strong bonds by carbon is due to its small size, which enables the nucleus to hold on to the shared pair of electrons strongly.

-Answered by priyanshu kumar On 03 October 2019:01:29:26 PM

Question 6. Asked on :02 September 2019:05:24:48 PM

What do you mean by dehydration ?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Science » Carbon And Its Compound

Answer:

priyanshu kumar
Dehydration of an alcohal means removal of water molecule from it. When etanol is heated with excess of concentrated sulphuric acid at 170 degree celcius (443K), it gets dehydrated to form ethene.

Question 10. Asked on :21 August 2019:04:46:17 PM

How carbon attain noble gas configuration?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Chemistry » Carbon And Its Compound

Answer:

Himanshi Verma

Carbon has 4 electrons in its outer most orbits and in order to attain the noble gas configuration it should either lose the 4 electrons and gain helium gas configuration or gain 4 electrons to obtain neon gas configuration

But is very difficult for it to gain or lose 4 electrons as very high energy is required to remove 3rd or 4th electrons and also it's very difficult for it to gain 4 electrons and hold it.
Hence carbon atom undergoes covalent bonding with other atoms to become stable.

-Answered by Himanshi Verma On 21 August 2019:04:48:24 PM
