  As David Curran correctly stated in his answer, charcoal can produce a flamewhen burning. However, charcoal frequently exhibits a non-flaming type ofcombustion. This is because flames only occur when combustion is occurring in the gas phase, (or if the combustion reaction is producing gas.)

  CNG is a cleaner fuel. The substances which burn in air are called combustible. During the process of combustion, heat and light are given out.
