When does an electric short circuit occurs?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Science » Magnetic Effects Of Electric Current

Answer:

Rahul Kumar

If either the insulation of wires used in an electric circuit is damaged or there is a fault in the appliances, live wires and neutral wire may come in direct contact. As, a result the current in the circuit is abruptly rises and short circuiting occurs.

Question 3. Asked on :09 October 2019:07:50:44 PM

Why is the earth pin thicker and longer than the live and the neutral pins?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Science » Magnetic Effects Of Electric Current

Answer:

Rahul Kumar

It is thicker so that it does not enter into the live or neutral sockets. It is made longer so that it gets connected to the earth terminal earlier  than the live and neutral pins. This ensures safety of the user.

Question 7. Asked on :06 October 2019:06:40:36 PM

Two circular coils A and B are placed close to each other. If the current in the coil A is changed, will some current be induced in the coil B? Give reasons.

-Added by Himanshi Verma Science » Magnetic Effects Of Electric Current

Answer:

Himanshi Verma

Yes, a current is induced in the coil B. When the current in the coil A is changed, the magnetic field associated with it also changes. Due to change in magnetic field lines associated with coil B and induced current is also induced in it.

Question 11. Asked on :28 August 2019:08:40:45 PM

Why magnetic field is not conservative in nature.

-Added by Akki Chauhan2 Science » Magnetic Effects Of Electric Current

Answer:

Nishant Verma
Rather, a field is conservative when the force on a test particle moving around any closed path does no net work. But magnetic fields only act on moving charges, and at right angles to the motion, so the work is always zero and the concept doesn't properly apply. ... Earth does have a magnetic Field.

What is earth wire ? How it works in our domestic circuit?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Science » Magnetic Effects Of Electric Current

Answer:

Akki chauhan

An earth wire is literally wire that goes down into the earth.this is called earth wire.

It gives us safe route for the current if the life wire touch the outer casing. Live wire is wire that carry current. The metallic body is connected to the earth wire. which provides a low resistance conducting path of the current.

Why don't two magnetic lines of force intersected each other ?

-Added by Himanshi Verma Physics » Magnetic Effects Of Electric Current

Answer:

Nishant Nishant

Ans. If magnetic field lines intersect each other then the magnetic field (magnetic field lines) will have two different directions at that point. This is not possible. So they don't intersect.Feb 4, 2018
