 A pendulum is a weight suspended from a pivot so that it can swing freely. When a pendulum is displaced sideways from its resting, equilibrium position, it is subject to a restoring force due to gravity that will accelerate it back toward the equilibrium position.

 The difference between uniform and non-uniform motion can be drawn clearly on the following grounds: When an object moves along a straight linewith a firm speed, the motion is said to be uniform motion. ... The object in a uniform motion covers same distances in an equal time period.
